MOZART: Flute Concerto No. 2 in D Major; Concerto for Flute, Harp
and Orchestra K299; Flute Concerto No. 1 in G Major – Patrick Gallois,
flute; Fabrice Pierre, harp; Roderick Shaw, harpsichord/Swedish Chamber
Orch./Patrick Gallois – Naxos multichannel SACD 6.110055, 70:15 ****:

These three fairly familiar Mozart works were written for amateur
performers but are nevertheless full of typically wonderful Mozartian
melodies and harmonies. They have been recorded many times before but
this disc brings all three together in superb interpretations and in
excellent 5-channel sound, recorded in a concert hall in Sweden.
Flutist Gallois has received raves for previous recordings, and brings
his players together here for a thoroughly satisfying Mozartian chamber
concert.
