SiriusXM Shows Record Revenues for Q3 – Satellite service SiriusXM has the highest  number of new subscribers in the third quarter since the merger of the two satellite services in July 2009. Year-to-date revenues were up 12.5%. Chrysler is moving along in production to offer satellite radio 2.0 tuners in select vehicles, three other automakers will have 2.0 in 2013. Nissan will launch SiriusXM’s first telematics service with OnStar-like services, at an undetermined date.
New Pioneer Outdoor Wireless Speaker – Pioneer’s XW-SMA3 is compatible with home networks, Apple’s AirPlay and the DLNA standard. If there is no Wi-Fi available it can create its own wireless connection. It can thus stream music to a range of devices, whether Apple, Android or Windows systems. Inside it has two three-inch midrange drivers, a one-inch tweeter and a central bass reflex port, plus a rechargeable battery lasting five hours. The speaker is splash resistant, and can also contribute to a household modular systems indoors.

Sony Losses – Sony has reported a second-quarter loss of $194 million, as the electronic firm continues to feel the weight of a depressed TV market. They are restructuring their TV operations, reducing them by selling off interests in production plants and focusing more on smartphone, imaging, video games and medical business. Sony’s operating loss in their home entertainment unit, including TV, shrank to 15.8 billion yen in the quarter from 41.8 billion yen a year earlier. Sales and operating profit also declined in Sony Pictures and music sales fell.
