This is a solo piano session in the studio with just Terry Trotter and his Steinway.  Terry is an LA jazz pianist who has been writing, performing and directing music for 50 years now. He accompanied Natalie Cole, who says of him, “Terry could transform a piano and give it wings.”
The 21 selections seem to be endless, but Terry spins an interesting version of each one in turn. My favorite Gershwin tune is “Who Cares?” and I especially liked his treatment of this one. Many of the tunes are rather straightforward treatments and I would have liked a bit more variety in them. He uses sheet music for some and others are from memory.
The audio and video quality are superb, as usual with AIX. You can see all the mics and lighting equipment in some of the shots, and occasionally you can even see the tracks around the grand piano from which some of the shots are taken—a bit distracting, but it doesn’t ruin matters.
