Communications Biggies Don’t Care About Coming Quake – Portland’s Mercury did a feature on the preparedness of the major communications corporations on the eventual coming earthquake for the Northwest area. Yamaha Adds Mobile HD Link to Receiver-Based HTiBs – Yamaha is bringing mobile Hi-Def Link (MHL) connections to its home theater receiver/speaker packages for the first time, and extending discrete amplification to all models. Most models have a Bluetooth adapter add-on for the first time, which connects to the HDMI ports of the lineup’s networked HTiBs. Four of the five models, starting at $649, will feature MHL 2.0 connectivity, enabling MHL-equipped mobile devices to send 1080p video and 7.1-channel audio over a wired connection to home theater systems. The connections also charges the device and enables control of the device’s content playback thru the remote control of the home theater system. Discrete-component amps, rather than IC amps, will be available in all models of the 2013 lineup.
