Vinyl Sales Still Going Strong – Neilsen found that vinyl album sales rose 53% in units compared with the year-ago quarter. U.S. vinyl sales have grown 260% since 2009 and last year vinyl had its ninth consecutive year of sales growth. It remains a viable way for music fans to listen to both new and classic albums.

New Philips Monitor Eases Eye Strain – The 24-inch Philips Soft Blue display features anti-blue light tecnology said to protect users against damaging effects of LED-backlit computer screens. The 16:9 FullHD display has VGA, DVI, MHL-HDMI and audio in/our ports. Such problems as headaches, eye strain and eye fatigue are common complaints after working on a computer display for an extended period of time exposed to continuous blue-light. The monitor is $170.

HomePlug AV2 for Gigabit Network Speeds – Netgear shipped its first powerline-network adaptger using the HomePlug AV2 standard, which doubles the speed of the former standard to deliver gigabit speed over the electrical wires in the home. Expanded in-home coverage over Wi-Fi networks for devices that are far from a wireless router can be expected. The unit is suitable for 4K video streaming, multiroom IPTV and whole-home video monitoring. After the device is plugged in, users plug an Ethernet cable into the adapter and the networked device. In a $10-more model, a noise-filtered, pass-thru power outlet is provided so consumers can still plug TVs and other devices into an outlet being used by the HomePlug.

Samsung Adds Hi-Res to Smart Phones – SamsungMobileUS has announced that the following Galaxy smartphones now support hi-res audio up to 192/24: Note 3 & 4, Note Edge, S5, S6 and S6 Edge.
