Welcome to the 72nd issue of the web publication for audio, music and home theater - transitioned from the former national radio program AUDIOPHILE AUDITION, which was heard for over 13 years on public radio and commercial classical stations coast to coast. We are dedicated to your auditional wellbeing.
This month we have 41 SACD & DVD-A reviews for you, continuing our record of publishing more hi-res disc reviews than any other publication. With the rest of our CD reviews we total 119 reviews, including the new jazz reviews just uploaded. A fun saxophone quartet SACD is our Multichannel Disc of the Month, and you will find reviews of the first DualDiscs also in our big Hi-Res section. Our three component reviews are the Roan Audio Seven speakers, M-400S EL34 tube monoblock amps from Consonance, and the handy little radioSHARK computer FM/AM radio.
Don't miss the Special Features this issue: New additions to the Classical Hall of Fame are up, and we just added our Best of the Year List for 2004! We have a dozen music videos this issue, including documentaries on Khachaturian and on Mahler's Third Symphony and concerts by Igor Markevitch, Duke Ellington and Branford Marsalis. An interesting departure is a still photography realization of Richard Strauss' Alpine Symphony, synchronized to a performance of the entire work. (By the way, this is one of our two-month issues annually; the other is July-August.)
Check this page for a special editorial later this month, and please return regularly for new material uploaded during the month! And be sure to register for the giveaway of a dozen AIX DVD-As this issue; this label provides every imaginable option in sound and image, even if you don't yet have a hi-res disc player!
